Republic FC Adds Pierre Reedy to the Backline
Republic FC have announced another signing with Pierre Reedy set to join the club. This deal is pending league and federation approval.
Reedy comes to Sacramento from USL League One side Spokane Velocity. That's where he spent the last two seasons as he helped the Spokane side to back-to-back finals appearances, including in the club's maiden season of existence. Reedy notched a final tally of four goals and five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
Before Spokane, Reedy had appearances with Charleston Battery, Real Monarchs, and Dundee FC in the Scottish Championship. In 2022, Reedy came to Dundee FC on trial before signing a contract. And from there, he made four appearances to aid Dundee in the fight for promotion back to the Scottish Premiership. But before that was his stint with the Real Monarchs, making 18 MLS NEXT Pro appearances and also two appearances for Real Salt Lake. After that was Charleston Battery in 2023 where he came in at the second half of the season as Charleston got their first-ever Eastern Conference Championship.
Republic FC Head Coach Neill Collins on the signing: "Pierre is a well-rounded player who can have an impact on both ends of the pitch. He brings a mentality and work rate that make every team he’s a part of better. We’re looking forward to having him join our fight for silverware.”
Pierre Reedy on joining Sacramento: “It’s an honor to be a part of this club. I’m looking forward to this new challenge and giving everything I have for this club and our fans.”
I'll be curious to see where Reedy lines up this season. It seems his comfortable in a variety of positions as he featured mainly as a left midfielder for Spokane. So, I'd assume he will be fighting for that other starting wingback spot with Dominik Wanner and Ryan Spaulding. This spot has always been a question mark when paired with Jack Gurr. As we know, Gurr is an all-league talent, but needs someone on the opposite flank to draw attention away from him, so the defense doesn't just focus solely on Gurr's territory. And we've seen a variety of players take a stab at being paired with Gurr on the left flank. And now Pierre Reedy will be the next to try and make his mark on that side of the field.
Welcome to the club, Pierre!
