Republic FC Brings Keeper Depth with Jacob Randolph

Republic FC Brings Keeper Depth with Jacob Randolph

Republic FC has announced the addition of Jacob Randolph ahead of the 2026 season. This deal is pending league and federation approval.

Randolph comes to Sacramento from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, where he spent the first two seasons of his professional career. He made 11 appearances across all competitions for the Riverhounds. And he helped the Riverhounds last year as they claimed the first USL Championship title for the club.

Republic FC Head Coach Neill Collins on the signing: "Jacob is a great addition to our goalkeeping squad. He knows what it takes to be a part of an elite defensive team, and we feel that he’s going to add even more depth to our roster as we battle for multiple trophies.”

Jacob Randolph on making his way to Sacramento: "I’m excited to join the Sacramento Republic organization and community. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity, and I’m ready to fight for trophies with this Indomitable club.”

Sacramento has been a known proving ground for goalkeepers, as multiple keepers have developed their game here and moved to bigger opportunities. Look at the case for Josh Cohen, Carlos Saldana, and Jared Mazzola. And for the last two, they mainly featured as backup keepers, which was the role Randolph had with Pittsburgh. At Pittsburgh, he was behind the 2024 keeper of the year, Eric Dick. And now he comes in to be behind Danny Vitiello, who casts an even longer shadow. Randolph featured prominently last season in the Riverhounds' cup games, playing all four group-stage matches in the USL Cup and one Open Cup match. And I expect him to be in a similar role in Sacramento, similar to Jared Mazzola last season. But, he will have a great mentor in Danny Vitiello to help shape his game. And he will be given his opportunities to step in for Vitiello if he needs a rest.

Welcome to the club, Jacob!
